青花 refers to the tradition of blue-and-white porcelain, an aesthetic language associated with refinement, domestic virtue, and idealised femininity. 牡丹, the peony, symbolises prosperity and the promise of a good marriage. Together, they form an image of beauty, hope, and culturally prescribed aspiration. 梦 (dream) signals longing, a vision held by women in my mother's era (the 1940s) who were taught that devotion as wife and mother was the only path to fulfilment. Yet, like porcelain, these dreams are delicate and easily fractured. The title encapsulates the tension between ornament and reality, desire and duty, promise and disillusion.
